Conway Corporation Grow Site

One of Arkansas’s largest water utilities, Conway Corporation (CC), is a key partner in launching the program, hosting a site for seedlings to grow to larger, more established trees before planting in critical floodplain areas. Conway Corp is actively helping create forested floodplains, our first line of "defense" filtering out sediment and pollutants in runoff water before entering our streams and rivers.

Conway Corporation pulls water from Brewer Lake, a 28,500 acre-feet lake located near Plumerville in Conway County. Brewer Lake is the main drinking water supply for approximately 70,000 residents in and around the city of Conway in Faulkner County as well as another 21,500 people in Conway and Perry Counties via the Conway County Regional Water Distribution District. Brewer Lake's water is treated at the Roger Q Mills Water Treatment Plant with a daily capacity of 24 million gallons.  Conway Corp. supplements water from Brewer Lake with water from Community Water System who pulls from Greer’s Ferry Lake. Our hope is to see "CommuniTrees" donated to interested landowners in the Brewer Lake Watershed, however landowners residing in any "drinking water watershed" across the state are eligible to apply. To learn more about Arkansas drinking water watersheds, visit our "About" page to read more about where we prioritize our work. To fill out a landowner interest form, click here

Conway Corp is currently working with other stakeholders including elected officials, property owners, business owners and watershed experts to develop the Brewer Lake Watershed Management Plan. Part of the plan is to seek public opinion to help draft this resource. Click the link below to learn more about upcoming opportunities to provide input and participate. We hope to donate our "CommuniTrees" to landowners in the Brewer Lake Watershed, but these trees are open to apply for for any landowners residing in drinking water watersheds across the state. Nov 22, 2025 Volunteer Potting Event

Thank you to everyone who volunteered for the CommuniTree project at Conway Corporation on November 22nd. We had an incredible turnout and a muddy fun time!

The army of volunteers that showed up enabled us to pot 300 trees in one hour, setting a new record. In total, 26 volunteers contributed 33 hours, generating $495 in matching grant funds in one hour. The event was a success, with participants of all ages actively engaged as you can see from our photos!

We planted Redbud, Sycamore, Willow Oak, and Water Oak—key floodplain species that help stabilize streambanks and prevent erosion. Once grown to a larger potted tree, these will be donated to landowners along waterways that supply drinking water across the state. Interested landowners can learn more by filling out our landowner interest form here.

With roughly 400 seedlings left to pot this winter at the Conway Corp grow site, we’d love your help to finish strong. If you or anyone you know is interested in volunteering for our next event or would like to organize a group to participate, please contact us at arforestsandwater@gmail.com. We’re considering a regular monthly work day at some of our grow sites—if a particular weekday and timeframe works best for you or your group, we’d love to hear your suggestions.  Share this page with a friend or anyone you think might be interested in joining, your help makes such a meaningful difference in the future of our drinking water! We appreciate your dedication and look forward to working together again soon.
