The Arkansas Forest and Drinking Water Collaborative (the Collaborative) is a loose collection of water utilities, forest industry, state and federal agencies, and nonprofit conservation associations. These entities work together to improve collaboration between the water and forest sectors for the benefit of both.

Mission: The mission of the Arkansas Forests and Drinking Water Collaborative is to facilitate conservation and better management of forested watersheds in Arkansas to protect public water supplies. In other words, the Collaborative is striving to keep forest as forest in order to receive the benefits of forest with respect to water quality protection.

Arkansas Dept. of Agriculture: Natural Resources Division

Efficiently and responsibly managing and protecting our water and land resources for the sustainability, health, safety, and economic benefit of the State of Arkansas.

AFA advocates for the sustainable use and sound stewardship of Arkansas’s forests and related resources to benefit members of the state’s forestry community and all Arkansans, today and in the future.

The Arkansas Rural Water Association (ARWA) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to assist water systems with day-to-day operational and management problems.

This program assists communities and water systems in the State develop local watershed and wellhead protection programs.

Beaver Water District supports the quality of life and economic growth of Northwest Arkansas by preserving the quality of the drinking water source, Beaver Lake. 

The Beaver Watershed Alliance (BWA) works to proactively protect, enhance, and sustain the high water quality of Beaver Lake and its tributaries through voluntary best management practice implementation, outreach and education, and scientific evaluation.

Central Arkansas Water works to enhance the quality of life for Central Arkansas Residents by:

  • Delivering high-quality water and dependable service that exceed customer expectations

  • Protecting and ensuring a long-term water supply for future generations

  • Serving as responsible stewards of public health, utility resources and the environment

A full-service manufacturing company for a wide variety of packaging and applications.  Dedicated to responsible forestry, GBP manages company owned forest lands and assists private landowners in implementing sustainable forestry management practices.

The Arkansas Forest Resources Center, a University of Arkansas Center of Excellence, has the mission of developing and delivering superior programs in research and extension that enhance and ensure the sustainability of forest-based natural resources. To support this mission, the Center brings together interdisciplinary expertise from across the University System through a partnership between the Arkansas Division of Agriculture and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

A land-grant university helping local, state, and federal agencies to learn and manage Arkansas' water resources.  They do this by supporting water research in Arkansas, training future water scientists and engineers, and sharing information to stakeholders.

NRCS helps Arkansas producers conserve valuable natural resources by providing assistance to private landowners through unique partnerships with landowners, conservation districts, state and local governments, and rural and urban citizens.

A catalyst for innovation that invigorates forest-rich, rural communities by keeping working forests as forests for all of their environmental, societal, and economic benefits and values.

WCRC is a Non-profit Organization that strives to protect, conserve and restore natural resources by utilizing the watershed approach, environmental outreach and providing planning and technical assistance to landowners, communities and government.

Texas A&M Forest Service helps property owners maintain land and natural resources to ensure forestlands remain productive and healthy not only for the environment, but for generations of Texans to come.

Molpus has been a timber company since 1905 and manages almost two million acres of timberland in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.  The Molpus team does everything from overseeing the planting of our clients’ trees to supervising their harvests and reforestation.

The Illinois River Watershed Partnership works to Improve the integrity of the Illinois River Watershed through public education, outreach, and implementation of conservation and restoration practices throughout the watershed.

The Nature Conservancy works collaboratively with private landowners, businesses, public agencies and other organizations to conserve and restore the lands and waters of Arkansas. 

To ensure healthy Southeastern forested watersheds that provide safe, reliable drinking water through strong partnerships, collaboration, funding, and action.
